DFT Engineer
VirtusaJob Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
Design-for-test (DFT) engineer responsible for implementing and validating test structures and flows for digital ASIC/SoC designs. Works with design, verification and manufacturing teams to ensure testability, debug failures, and prepare designs for production.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include building and verifying on-chip test infrastructure and supporting test automation and failure analysis.
- Design and integrate scan architecture, boundary scan, and LBIST features into digital designs.
- Implement eFuse configuration and other manufacturing-test features.
- Develop and run DFT flows using vendor EDA tool suites (Tessent, TestMAX/TetraMAX, DFT Compiler, Modus, etc.).
- Create and maintain automation scripts for DFT flows (Tcl, Python, or Perl).
- Perform test rule checks (TDRC/DFT DRC) and debug failing tests using waveform tools such as Verdi.
- Collaborate with RTL designers, verification engineers, and lab teams for silicon bring-up and test failure diagnosis.
- Generate DFT documentation, test plans, and sign-off reports for tapeout and production testing.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools for the role; nice-to-have items listed separately.
- Must-have: Mastery of digital logic and DFT concepts including scan architecture, boundary scan, LBIST, and eFuse configuration.
- Must-have: Hands-on experience with at least one major vendor DFT/ATE toolset (examples: Siemens/Mentor Tessent, Synopsys TestMAX/TetraMAX/DFT Compiler, Cadence Modus/Genus DFT).
- Must-have: Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and automation scripting (Tcl, Python, or Perl).
- Must-have: Experience with test rule checking (TDRC/DFT DRC) and waveform-based debug (e.g., Verdi).
- Nice-to-have: Cross-vendor tool experience, prior ASIC/SoC tapeout experience, or additional debug/ATE bring-up background.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
