Job Title
DFT Engineer
Role Summary
As a DFT Engineer on the silicon team you will define and implement design-for-test architecture and methodologies to meet product quality and production goals. Work includes DFT feature development, flow automation, and support for silicon bring-up, debug, and ramp to production.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically requires 5+ years of relevant DFT experience on complex SoCs.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with silicon teams to establish DFT requirements and architecture to meet product quality goals.
- Develop and implement DFT features and methodologies optimized for power, performance, and area (PPA) and verified.
- Improve execution efficiency and quality-of-results through flow automation and dashboard checks.
- Manage schedules and coordinate cross-functional and cross-organizational engineering efforts.
- Support silicon bring-up, debug, yield improvement and ramp to production.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 5+ years Design-for-Test experience on complex SoCs, including architecture specification, implementation, test pattern development and verification.
- Knowledge of industry DFT practices such as ATPG, JTAG, and Memory BIST and the trade-offs between test quality and product impact (power, performance, area, schedule).
- Experience with yield enhancement methods such as memory repair and in-system operation.
- Proficiency with commercially available DFT, design, and verification tools.
- Experience debugging DFT patterns in simulation and on ATE.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and schedule management skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience running synthesis and developing STA constraints for DFT modes.
- Experience with SDF back-annotated simulations.
- Experience with power-aware DFT and power delivery network interactions.
- Experience with Analog DFT and mixed-signal IP test methods and integration.
- Proficiency with scripting/programming such as Perl or TCL.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar preferred; or a Bachelor's degree (BS) in a relevant engineering field plus 5+ years industry experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
