Job Title

DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Join Intel's CPU Cores Engineering ATPG team as a Junior Design-for-Test (DFT) Engineer supporting development, integration, and validation of DFT solutions for complex CPU core designs. Work cross-functionally with design, verification, validation, and manufacturing to enable ATPG, silicon bring-up, and production test flows.

Opportunity to gain hands-on experience with ATPG methodologies, DFT features (Scan, MBIST, JTAG), and test automation in an industry-leading CPU development environment. This role requires on-site presence in Haifa, Israel.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Junior). Suitable for early-career engineers or recent graduates with internship or academic project experience in VLSI, DFT, or related areas.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include supporting ATPG and DFT integration, validating test solutions, and assisting silicon bring-up and manufacturing test activities.

  • Support ATPG generation, fault coverage analysis, and pattern debug.
  • Participate in DFT integration and verification for Scan, MBIST, and TAP/JTAG.
  • Assist senior engineers in developing and debugging manufacturing test content.
  • Analyze stuck-at and transition fault coverage results.
  • Contribute to RTL-level DFT implementation and validation.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools to improve DFT workflows and debug efficiency.
  • Collaborate with design, validation, and physical design teams to support project execution.
  • Support silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug activities.

Requirements

Core technical skills and attributes required or strongly preferred for this role.

Must-have:

  • Basic understanding of digital design fundamentals and computer architecture.
  • Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog and RTL concepts.
  • Exposure to DFT concepts such as Scan, ATPG, MBIST, or JTAG/TAP (coursework, projects, internships, or prior experience).
  • Programming or scripting experience in Python, Perl, TCL, or similar languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Internship or academic project experience in VLSI, DFT, validation, or verification.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments.
  • Experience with industry EDA tools such as Tessent, VCS, Verdi, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of ATPG flows and fault models, and experience with scripting for automation.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor design and manufacturing flows.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is specified.
