Job Title

DFT Engineer

Role Summary

Broadcom's Core Switching Group in San Jose seeks a DFT engineer to develop and debug ATPG and MBIST patterns, support post-silicon bring-up, and drive yield improvement across networking switch products for data centers.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically 6–8+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generate, bring up, and debug ATPG and MBIST DFT patterns for post-silicon validation.
  • Monitor wafer sort and final test yields, analyze binning and parametric data, and drive yield-improvement actions.
  • Perform scan diagnostics, MBIST and repair debug, and correlate failures to fab metrology and process data.
  • Support physical failure analysis and electrical fault isolation to identify defect mechanisms.
  • Partner with Global Operations during NPI and early silicon evaluation to validate DFT structures and establish baseline yields.
  • Collaborate with product and test engineering teams to resolve silicon and test issues.
  • Develop automated dashboards, spatial wafer maps, and yield-correlation models using data analytics and AI tools.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Deep understanding of CMOS device physics, semiconductor manufacturing processes (lithography, etch, deposition, CMP, implant), and electrical testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of testability techniques: SCAN, MBIST, bscan covering digital logic, embedded memories, and PHY/IO domains.
  • Experience with scan-flow development, ATPG pattern generation, verification, and coverage analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with Mentor/Siemens Tessent for scan/MBIST/bscan/IJTAG pattern generation and debug.
  • Post-silicon experience: pattern conversion for testers, pattern bring-up, silicon characterization, and debug.
  • Strong pre/post-silicon debugging skills, analytical problem solving, and independence.
  • Proficiency in volume data analysis and tools/languages for correlating failures with system/fab data.
  • Self-driven, strong project management and organizational skills to meet delivery timelines.
  • Strong scripting skills; experience using AI tools for rapid script development is a plus.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree plus 8+ years of related experience, or Master's degree plus 6+ years of related experience (degree fields not specified in the posting).
