Job Title

DFT Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design and verify Design-for-Test (DFT) features for SoC and IP blocks to ensure manufacturability and reliability. Work within a cross-functional engineering team to define DFT architecture, integrate RTL, and support silicon bring-up and production testing.

Experience Level

Entry-level β€” college graduate / early-career role. Typical candidate: 0–1 years experience; posting cites 6+ months of experience with design tools and RTL/DFT techniques as baseline.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, verifying, and integrating DFT features and supporting manufacturing and debug activities.

  • Develop RTL and structural code for DFT architectures and integration.
  • Implement DFT features such as SCAN, MBIST, BSCAN, and TAP.
  • Define and review architecture and microarchitecture for DFT blocks and subsystems.
  • Optimize logic for power, performance, area, timing, test coverage, and DPM targets.
  • Create and execute verification plans; resolve RTL test failures and implement fixes.
  • Support SoC integration, post-silicon validation, and manufacturing debug.
  • Develop high-volume manufacturing (HVM) test content for automatic test equipment (ATE).

Requirements

Minimum technical and experience requirements and preferred skills.

  • Must-have: ~6 months experience with semiconductor design tools.
  • Must-have: ~6 months experience with RTL coding and DFT techniques.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with test architecture (SCAN, MBIST, BSCAN, TAP) and ATPG/coverage analysis.
  • Experience configuring EDT setups and resolving stuck-at and at-speed test scenarios.
  • Proficient in scripting/programming such as TCL, Python, Perl, and/or C++.
  • Experience with timing closure methods and GLS for test scenario resolution.
  • Strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is listed as the minimum. Master's in computer engineering or computer science is listed as preferred. The posting notes this is an entry-level/college-grad role and indicates no prior experience is required beyond the listed minimums.
