Device Modeling Technician
Role Summary
Operate advanced characterization equipment and produce high-fidelity measurement data used to develop and validate device models for Allegro's BCD technologies. The role sits within Technology Development and reports to the Senior Device Modeling Manager, collaborating with Wafer Technology, Device Development, and Design teams.
This is a hands-on laboratory role focused on measurement, data processing, automation, and equipment maintenance to support model accuracy and product development.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0β3 years); posting requires a minimum of 2+ years of industry or laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include measurement, data handling, automation, and laboratory operations. Key responsibilities:
- Perform electrical characterization of transistors, diodes, resistors, and capacitors at wafer and package levels.
- Design and refine measurement setups to capture accurate device data.
- Execute measurements, collect raw data, and perform post-processing and interpretation to identify trends.
- Automate test procedures and instrument control by scripting (Python) to improve throughput.
- Document results clearly and present findings to engineering teams.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; manage calibration schedules.
- Coordinate wafer handling and shipments and participate in lab audits and safety procedures.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- Minimum 2+ years industry or laboratory experience in a semiconductor or test environment.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and test automation.
- Experience with basic laboratory instrumentation (digital multimeter, oscilloscope, signal generator).
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting measurement hardware and test software.
- Advanced professional English (verbal and written) for global collaboration.
- Able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary R&D team.
Education Requirements
Technician degree or current enrollment in Electronic Engineering studies (electronic engineering or equivalent technical program).
Preferred Qualifications
Nice-to-have skills that strengthen candidacy:
- Experience with specialized characterization equipment: Source Measure Units (SMUs), LCR meters, probe stations.
- Familiarity with scientific Python libraries (NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, Jupyter, SciPy).
- Basic understanding of semiconductor device physics and BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) fabrication.
