Job Title

Device Characterization Engineer, Advanced & Emerging Memory

Role Summary

The role leads electrical characterization for advanced DRAM and emerging memory devices, developing methods from early development through production. The position combines hands-on experiments, data-driven analysis, automation, and technical leadership to connect device behavior to reliability, performance, and product outcomes.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify years of experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on designing, executing, and scaling electrical characterization and analysis for memory devices and communicating results to cross-functional teams.

  • Lead electrical characterization of advanced DRAM and emerging memory devices.
  • Develop and scale characterization methodologies, models, and standards across development and production.
  • Design and automate test flows, data pipelines, and analysis tools.
  • Investigate device behavior, reliability mechanisms, and root causes; establish time-zero baselines.
  • Operate and maintain parametric test equipment and wafer-level or ATE systems.
  • Collaborate with process, build, and systems teams and present technical findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for successful performance in this role.

  • Strong foundation in semiconductor device physics and electrical characterization, with emphasis on DRAM and emerging memory architectures.
  • Experience with reliability characterization and establishing time-zero baselines.
  • Hands-on experience with parametric test equipment and wafer-level or ATE test systems.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python for automation and data analysis.
  • Experience using AI/LLM-based tools for automation and data analysis.
  • Ability to design and automate test flows and data pipelines, and to develop analysis tools and models.
  • Clear technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience scaling characterization methods into manufacturing flows.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership or subject-matter expertise in device characterization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills applied across process and product teams.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD (or equivalent practical experience) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. The posting allows equivalent experience in lieu of an advanced degree.
