Job Title

Development Tools Software Engineer (Fixed-Term Contract)

Role Summary

Join Intel's Debug and Trace Tools Engineering team to design, develop, and optimize software debug tools that support silicon validation and engineering workflows. You will deliver high-quality tools that integrate with engineering ecosystems and improve product development efficiency.

This is a temporary position (6 to 24 months) eligible for Intel's hybrid work model and based in Munich, Germany.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typical experience expectations: Bachelor's degree + 3+ years, Master's degree + 2+ years, or PhD acceptable with no prior professional experience. (See Education Requirements for details.)

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on building, integrating, and maintaining debug tooling and related infrastructure.

  • Design and implement robust software tools, including debuggers, for silicon validation and engineering workflows.
  • Develop secure, efficient, and scalable systems using modern programming languages and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and integrate tools into existing workflows.
  • Optimize tools for performance and reliability; debug and resolve production-quality issues.
  • Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and testing.
  • Support adoption of Agile practices and continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Proficiency in modern programming languages, particularly C++.
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of embedded systems and hardware architectures.
  • Experience configuring and using Linux and Windows development environments.
  • Familiarity with open-source software and common development workflows.
  • Understanding of AI and HPC software stacks.
  • Solid analytical skills and experience working on Agile teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing compilers, debuggers (e.g., gdb), or other developer tools.
  • Knowledge of OS internals, particularly Linux.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and test methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience; OR Master's degree with 2+ years of professional experience; OR PhD (acceptable with no prior professional experience).
