Design Verification Staff
QualcommJob Title
Design Verification Staff
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer responsible for IP and SoC functional verification of digital designs and high-speed peripherals. Works within the Hardware Engineering organization to develop verification environments, tests, and debug flows for complex subsystems.
Collaborates with design, architecture, and software teams to close functional and power-related issues through simulation, formal techniques, and automated regressions.
Experience Level
Senior — 9+ years of relevant hardware or verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include creating verification plans, implementing HVL/HDL environments, and debugging system-level interactions.
- Define and execute IP- and SoC-level verification plans and regression suites.
- Develop UVM/SystemVerilog/SystemC testbenches and verification components.
- Create and run Verilog/RTL tests and simulation flows.
- Verify CPU interfaces and high-speed peripherals (USB2/3, PCIe, SDIO) and associated protocols.
- Perform power-aware verification and generate test vectors for low-power scenarios.
- Debug functional issues across subsystems and assist in silicon bring-up.
- Integrate formal or AI-assisted verification tools when applicable.
- Automate verification flows using scripting and maintain version-control workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve verification blockers and release silicon-quality IP.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items noted separately.
- Must-have: Strong digital design knowledge and proven IP/SoC verification experience using HVL (SystemVerilog, UVM) and HDL (Verilog).
- Experience verifying CPU architectures and high-speed peripheral interfaces (ARM/DSP, USB, PCIe, SDIO).
- Experience with power-aware verification, gate-level simulation (GLS), and test-vector generation.
- Proficiency with scripting (Perl, Tcl, Python) and experience with version control systems (Perforce, ClearCase, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to run and maintain large regression suites and debug complex SoC interactions.
- Nice-to-have: Exposure to audio subsystems, Bluetooth/WLAN, formal verification, AI verification tools, and SystemC.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field. The posting specifies: Bachelor's degree with 2+ years hardware engineering experience, or Master's degree with 1+ year of hardware engineering experience, or a PhD. (The broader posting also indicates an overall experience level of 9+ years for this role.)
