Design Verification Intern
AmbiqJob Title
Design Verification Intern
Role Summary
The Design Verification Intern will verify digital designs and systems-on-chip (SoCs) including multiple CPUs, DSPs, security hardware, and other IoT logic. The role focuses on developing and executing verification plans, implementing reusable SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, and collaborating with design teams to debug and close issues.
This is a hands-on verification role within the chip verification team supporting full-chip and block-level verification for low-power semiconductor products.
Experience Level
Entry-level internship for current students; no prior professional experience required.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities, building scalable test environments, and performing root-cause analysis with design teams.
- Develop block-, sub-system-, and chip-level test plans.
- Implement scalable, reusable testbenches using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Execute SoC-based verification and full-chip regressions.
- Create comprehensive test cases, stimulus generation, and checkers to achieve high coverage.
- Automate test environments for randomized testing and scoreboarding.
- Utilize advanced debugging techniques to identify and resolve design and verification issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis and coordinate fixes with design teams.
- Define and track functional and code coverage metrics.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional behaviors:
- Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Perl, Tcl, or C/C++).
- Comfortable working in a Linux/UNIX environment.
- Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI/AHB/APB).
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with UVM-based verification and SoC-level verification flows.
- Experience with scoreboarding, randomized testing, and advanced debug techniques.
- Exposure to edge-based AI inference in silicon designs.
Education Requirements
Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; coursework in relevant digital design and verification topics is expected.
