Job Title
Design Verification Engineering Manager
Role Summary
Lead a technically deep verification team responsible for end-to-end verification of coherent interconnect and fabric IP for next-generation silicon. This is a player-coach role combining hands-on verification work with people leadership, hiring, and delivery ownership.
The team operates with high autonomy inside a larger engineering organization; you will set verification strategy, coordinate across architecture/RTL/physical/post-silicon teams, and drive projects through silicon signoff.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive experience (20+ years of accumulated technical experience in relevant domains and 5+ years of demonstrated success building and leading verification teams).
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership, verification strategy, team development, and delivery quality.
- Lead, hire, mentor, and scale a verification team; set goals and maintain an execution-focused culture.
- Define and own end-to-end verification strategy for coherent interconnect IP, protocol bridges, and fabric subsystems from architecture engagement through coverage closure and silicon signoff.
- Remain hands-on: review test plans, debug protocol issues, make architecture-level verification decisions, and implement code to unblock the team.
- Drive methodology for cache coherency protocols, memory ordering models, and multi-die link-layer transports; ensure coverage targets capture system corner cases.
- Collaborate with architecture, RTL, physical design, and post-silicon teams to resolve cross-team technical issues.
- Establish delivery cadence, risk frameworks, and quality metrics to provide predictable milestone visibility.
- Recruit and develop senior technical talent and build a bench capable of owning complex IP verification independently.
- Evaluate and integrate formal, emulation, and ML-driven verification approaches into a unified closure strategy.
- Operate as a Position of Trust; consent to and pass an extended background investigation as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical and leadership capabilities; degree requirements are summarized separately under Education Requirements.
Must-have:
- Deep expertise in cache coherence protocols and memory consistency models (MOESI/MESI variants, directory-based and snoop-filter coherence) and hands-on experience verifying coherent fabrics or CPU cache subsystems.
- Strong architectural understanding of modern CPU microarchitectures, multi-level memory hierarchies, and system-level address translation (MMU/IOMMU).
- Proven experience with chiplet-scale and die-to-die interconnects (UCIe, CXL, or proprietary D2D links) including link-layer behaviors such as credit management and flit-level protocol verification.
- Protocol fluency across AMBA CHI, ACE, AXI, PCIe/CXL, and related on-die and off-die fabrics.
- Experience with simulation and formal verification methodologies (UVM, SVA) and familiarity with emulation-based approaches.
- Hands-on coding proficiency in SystemVerilog/UVM, C/C++, and Python; comfortable using AI-assisted development tools in workflows.
- Demonstrated success leading and scaling verification teams and shipping high-quality silicon on predictable schedules.
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills; able to operate with minimal direction.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams and operating with a lean, high-trust model.
- Exposure to network-on-chip architectures, QoS arbitration, and fabric-level power-management verification.
- Background with formal verification tools (e.g., JasperGold, VC Formal) applied at scale.
- Familiarity with RTL design, physical design constraints, and CAD flows; experience building verification IP or methodology across product generations.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. The posting specifies 20+ years of progressive experience in design verification and verification leadership.
