Job Title

Design Verification Engineering Intern

Role Summary

Join Intel's verification team to gain hands-on experience verifying modern System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. The intern will work with verification engineers to create and run simulations, debug RTL, and help validate ASIC/SoC functionality using industry EDA tools and verification methodologies.

This is a practical, project-based internship focused on developing verification skills, using HVL and scripting languages, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve design quality.

Experience Level

Entry-level (student / internship). Targeted at active undergraduate students; prior coursework or project experience in digital design and verification recommended.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities for the internship include contributing to verification tasks and supporting the verification team in daily engineering activities.

  • Develop and run simulation testbenches for RTL verification.
  • Debug functional issues in RTL and verification environments; analyze waveforms and log output.
  • Write and maintain scripts to automate simulation, regression, and result collection.
  • Document verification results, test plans, and defect reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members on project tasks and design reviews.
  • Learn and apply verification methodologies and EDA tools under mentor guidance.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements. Degree enrollment details are listed under Education Requirements.

Must-have:

  • Foundational knowledge of digital logic design and verification concepts.
  • Experience with HVL languages: Verilog/VHDL and SystemVerilog.
  • Basic programming skills in C or C++.
  • Scripting experience in Python, Perl, or TCL for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with EDA simulation tools and running simulations/regressions.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in project-based team settings.
  • Must be eligible to work in the country specified by the posting; this position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to UVM (Universal Verification Methodology).
  • Familiarity with AMBA protocols (AXI, AHB, APB) or common peripherals (UART, I2C, SPI).
  • Experience or coursework in low-power verification or formal verification techniques.
  • Basic SQL and familiarity with business-intelligence tools (Power BI, Copilot).
  • Comfortable in Linux environments (bash, tcsh).

Education Requirements

Active student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (undergraduate level). The posting targets students seeking an internship experience; enrollment in a relevant degree program is required.
