Design Verification Engineer, Silicon
Meta PlatformsJob Title
Design Verification Engineer, Silicon
Role Summary
Member of the Meta Reality Labs silicon verification team responsible for ensuring functional correctness and quality of custom AR/VR and AI chips from specification to tape-out. Develop and execute verification strategies, implement testbenches and infrastructure, and collaborate with design, architecture, firmware and post-silicon teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level; requires 6+ years of experience in digital design verification.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover verification planning, test development, and validation across RTL blocks, subsystems, and SoCs.
- Develop and own verification plans covering functional coverage, corner cases, and compliance requirements.
- Design and implement constrained-random UVM testbenches for RTL designs, subsystems and full SoCs.
- Define and close functional and code coverage metrics; track and report coverage closure and risk.
- Maintain simulation infrastructure, regression frameworks, and automated test frameworks for CI.
- Perform formal verification and property checking on critical blocks.
- Debug failing simulations using waveform analysis, logs, and RTL inspection to root-cause issues.
- Partner with firmware and post-silicon teams to develop pre-silicon test content and support hardware bring-up.
- Contribute to verification methodology improvements and reusable verification collateral.
Requirements
Must-have skills are listed first; preferred skills are labeled as Nice-to-have.
- Must-have: 6+ years in digital design verification, including development of UVM-based constrained-random testbenches.
- Must-have: 6+ years experience with hardware description and verification languages such as SystemVerilog and/or VHDL.
- Must-have: Experience defining and closing functional coverage models and code coverage metrics for complex digital designs.
- Must-have: Experience debugging RTL simulations using waveform analysis tools and log-based root-cause analysis.
- Must-have: Scripting experience (Python or Perl) for test automation, regression management, or coverage analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with formal verification tools and methodologies; HW/SW interoperability verification and firmware validation.
- Nice-to-have: Post-silicon validation, hardware bring-up, and transitioning pre-silicon tests to physical hardware.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with mobile/wearable/consumer SoCs, low-power verification techniques, CPUs, AI accelerators, interconnects and memory controllers.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with bare-metal frameworks and agentic AI flows.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
