Design Verification Engineer Intern - Fall 2026

Role Summary

Internship on the Custom Compute Solutions verification team verifying ASIC blocks, subsystems and full-chip functionality for high-speed data, networking, AI and storage applications. Work closely with architects, design, verification and physical design engineers to validate designs and resolve issues.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Intended for students; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Primary verification and collaboration responsibilities include:

  • Plan and perform functional verification of blocks and subsystems using established methodologies.
  • Verify area, power, performance and latency against requirements.
  • Assist with full-chip verification and subsystem integration.
  • Debug design issues with design and physical design teams, including timing problems.
  • Document verification approach, test cases and results.
  • Collaborate with architects, designers, verification and software engineers.

Requirements

Must-have skills and conditions:

  • Able to work collaboratively and independently; self-driven.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Some exposure to digital logic and computer architecture.
  • On-site, full-time availability for the internship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of Verilog/SystemVerilog or other hardware description languages.
  • Exposure to Ethernet, cryptographic technologies, or ASIC design/verification methodologies and flows.

Education Requirements

Currently enrolled in a university program working towards a BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent degree.
