Design Verification Engineer - Acacia Networks
Role Summary
Work in the Device Verification Test (DVT) group to design and run automated tests for photonic integrated circuit (PIC) devices and optoelectronic modules. Collaborate with silicon photonics, optical packaging, ASIC, DSP, RF, and operations teams to bring up new products and improve manufacturing yield and throughput.
Experience Level
Senior level. Hiring guidelines: Bachelor's + 7 years, Master's + 4 years, or PhD + 2 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design verification, test development, and cross-team debugging for new optical products.
- Lead new product introduction efforts for PICs and modules; debug and bring-up devices with multidisciplinary teams.
- Define and execute design verification test (DVT) plans and document results.
- Develop test algorithms, calibration procedures, and automated test sequences.
- Support PIC-level failure analysis, troubleshooting, and yield improvement activities.
- Work with manufacturing and operations to improve throughput and ensure high-yield processes.
- Collaborate with RF, DSP, silicon photonics, and packaging engineers during development and validation.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience to perform the role.
- Prior hands-on lab experience working with optical hardware and test setups.
- Experience with basic fiber-optic components and test-and-measurement equipment.
- Proven ability to debug hardware and execute structured test plans.
- Strong documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally when required.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with high-bandwidth RF and EO/OE testing.
- Knowledge of client optics DSP, SerDes testing, DAC/ADC controls, PAM4, and coherent optical communications.
- Familiarity with test automation and scripting (Python); C++, MATLAB, VPI modeling experience is a plus.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as JMP.
Education Requirements
