Job Title

Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Join Tachyum's International Design Verification team in Sunnyvale to verify complex processor and accelerator silicon (Prodigy). The role focuses on developing and executing verification strategies, building verification environments, and debugging complex scenarios to ensure functional correctness of microarchitecture, caches, and standard interfaces.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically around 4 years of relevant design verification experience.

Responsibilities

The role requires owning verification components of system-on-chip subsystems and collaborating with architecture, RTL, and tools teams.

  • Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches and verification environments.
  • Develop regression suites, functional coverage models, and test plans.
  • Debug complex failures across simulation, FPGA-emulation, and hardware platforms.
  • Integrate and use verification tools including formal and equivalence checking where applicable.
  • Validate standard interfaces (e.g., PCIe, DDR4/5) and memory subsystem behaviors (cache, MMU, coherency).
  • Automate workflows with scripting and CI-style regression infrastructure.
  • Document results and communicate issues to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements. Items marked as Must-have are required; others are Nice-to-have.

  • Must-have: ~4 years of design verification experience; strong knowledge of SystemVerilog and UVM.
  • Must-have: Experience debugging complex test scenarios and working in Linux-based environments.
  • Must-have: Experience with FPGA-emulated platforms and regression infrastructure.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with git and at least one scripting language (Perl or Python).
  • Must-have: Familiarity with C and C++ for test and infrastructure code.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of cache hierarchies, MMU, cache coherency protocols, and processor/GPU/vector-processing microarchitecture.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with standard protocols (PCIe, DDR4/5), assertion-based verification (SVA/OVA), formal equivalence tools (e.g., Jasper), or theorem provers (e.g., ACL2).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with TCL/Expect and verification tools architecture/implementation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up environment and communicate effectively across teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
