Job Title

Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Lead and execute system-on-chip (SoC) verification activities within the MCU organization. The role focuses on defining verification strategy, producing test plans, developing and maintaining testbenches, and driving signoff for SoC and IP verification across RTL, gate-level, and mixed-signal domains.

The engineer will collaborate with IP, architecture, and RTL teams to achieve structural and functional coverage goals and support low-power and post-silicon validation efforts.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of SoC/IP design verification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing verification activities to achieve signoff and coverage targets.

  • Define and drive verification strategy and write Test Plans for SoC and IP.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain testbenches (SV-UVM, C-based test environments, or equivalent).
  • Implement and reuse UVM components (agents, drivers, monitors, scoreboards) at the SoC level.
  • Conduct SoC verification across RTL, gate-level (GLS), and AMS domains, including low-power verification.
  • Define, track, and meet structural and functional coverage goals.
  • Collaborate with IP, architecture, and RTL teams to resolve issues and meet verification milestones.
  • Support post-silicon validation and formal verification activities as needed.

Requirements

Concise list of required and preferred technical skills and experience.

  • Must-have: 5+ years of experience in SoC/IP design verification and verification signoff at the SoC level.
  • Must-have: Strong digital design fundamentals, computer organization/architecture, and experience with bus protocols.
  • Must-have: Practical experience with UVM/SystemVerilog, C/C++, scripting, and simulation-based verification; familiarity with formal methods or post-silicon validation is expected.
  • Must-have: Working knowledge of common on-chip protocols such as AHB, APB, CAN, USB, I2C, SPI, UART.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging and problem-solving skills; effective communication with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to analog/mixed-signal (AMS) verification and low-power verification techniques.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience in SoC/IP verification.
