Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Entry-level verification role on the Silicon Chassis team responsible for verifying interconnect and chassis IP used in SoCs and platform products. Work directly with senior engineers to develop testbenches, create constrained-random tests, close coverage, and diagnose simulation failures.
This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.
Experience Level
Entry-level / New college graduate. Suitable for candidates with internship experience or early-career engineers.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include verification development, debug, and coverage closure under guidance of senior engineers.
- Develop testbench components, constrained-random stimulus, and functional checkers for interconnect and chassis IP.
- Write, run, and debug simulation tests; analyze failures and root-cause issues; produce clear technical write-ups.
- Contribute to functional coverage plans and regression triage to achieve coverage closure.
- Participate in spec reviews, design discussions, and bug triage across architecture, design, and software boundaries.
- Use AI-assisted coding and debugging tools and build automation and scripting to improve team productivity.
- Continuously deepen knowledge in hardware design, verification methodology, and chip development flow.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical experience for the role; preferred items are listed separately.
- Must-have: Foundation in logic design and digital circuits; ability to read and reason about RTL.
- Demonstrated algorithmic thinking and software fundamentals.
- Proficiency in at least one of: C/C++, Python, or SystemVerilog through coursework, projects, or internships.
- Coursework or project exposure to topics such as computer architecture, parallel/distributed computing, operating systems, hardware/software interfaces, or VLSI.
- Regular use of AI coding assistants as a productivity tool (not occasional use).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with hardware verification, FPGA design, or RTL simulation tools (ModelSim, VCS, Questa, or similar).
- Familiarity with SystemVerilog, UVM concepts, or assertion-based verification.
- Knowledge of bus protocols (AXI, AHB, PCIe) or cache/memory hierarchy concepts.
- Comfort working in Linux, using git, and writing build/test automation scripts.
- Project experience implementing hardware models, HDL algorithms, or hardware-software co-design.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Posting specifies 3+ months of internship experience in a hardware design or verification environment. (No alternative degree-equivalent language provided.)
