Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Performs functional verification of IP logic by developing verification plans, testbenches, and environments to ensure designs meet microarchitecture specifications. Executes simulations, debugs pre-silicon issues, and collaborates with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams to validate complex features.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 3 to 7 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for planning, executing, and improving functional verification for IP blocks and verification infrastructure.

• Develop verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments aligned to microarchitecture specifications.
• Execute system simulations, analyze power and timing, and verify design behavior.
• Replicate, root-cause, and debug failures in the pre-silicon environment and implement fixes.
• Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, and physical design teams on verification of architectural and microarchitectural features.
• Document test plans and lead technical reviews of verification proofs.
• Maintain and improve functional verification infrastructure, methodology, and related TFMs.

Requirements

Essential technical skills and verification experience; preferred items listed below.

• Proficient in SystemVerilog.
• Proficient in scripting/programming (Perl, Python, or similar).
• Strong understanding of computer architecture.
• Experience debugging and root-cause analysis in pre-silicon environments.
• Ability to develop protocol checkers, bridge checkers, VIP integration, and configurable IP verification.
• Strong collaboration and documentation skills.

Preferred:

• Exposure to AMBA protocols.
• Experience bringing up coherent protocols and working with coherency architectures (e.g., CHI).
• Experience in Network-on-Chip verification.
