Design Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Design Layout Engineer on the DRAM Engineering Group (DEG) responsible for converting circuit schematics into manufacturable physical layouts for advanced DRAM products. The role collaborates with verification, process, and product engineering teams to ensure layouts meet design, verification, and manufacturing requirements.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Requires at least 4 years of experience in semiconductor physical layout build.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include developing and verifying physical layouts and supporting tapeout activities.

  • Build, implement, and verify analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit layouts for advanced DRAM products.
  • Collaborate with Build, Verification, Process, and Product Engineering to develop efficient floorplans and optimize layout quality.
  • Use EDA tools (Cadence Virtuoso, Calibre) for layout development, verification, and physical validation.
  • Analyze and resolve layout issues related to antenna effects, latch-up, ESD, and other physical build considerations.
  • Perform DRC/LVS verification and support tapeout activities to align designs with manufacturing requirements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • 4+ years of experience in semiconductor physical layout build.
  • Proficient with Cadence Virtuoso (VLE/VXL) and Calibre DRC/LVS verification tools.
  • Experience translating schematics into manufacturable physical layouts and performing layout verification.
  • Experience with DRC/LVS and supporting tapeout procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Understanding of circuit build fundamentals, device behavior, and layout optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting, or AI-assisted engineering tools to improve build efficiency and productivity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
