Design Evaluation Engineer β Data Center & Energy
Role Summary
Hands-on engineer responsible for bringing up and evaluating smart energy management and data-center products. Develop embedded firmware, build automated test and characterization systems, perform hardware/firmware debugging and root-cause analysis, and work with cross-functional teams from concept to product release.
Position is based in Wilmington, MA and requires occasional travel (~10%). Shift: 1st Shift / Days.

Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, validation, and cross-team collaboration to ensure product readiness.
- Develop embedded firmware (bare-metal and/or RTOS) and device drivers for evaluation boards.
- Create lab automation and characterization frameworks using Python, LabVIEW, or C#.
- Define and execute system-level test plans, pass/fail criteria, and ensure release readiness.
- Perform hardware and firmware bring-up, hands-on debugging, and root-cause analysis.
- Analyze test data, drive corrective actions, and verify design/firmware fixes.
- Collaborate with project management, hardware, firmware, test, failure analysis, reliability, manufacturing, marketing, and applications teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

Must-have: Strong foundation in hardware fundamentals (analog, digital, mixed-signal, power) and their interaction with embedded firmware and system behavior.

Must-have: Hands-on lab bring-up and debugging; experience with PCB design review or schematic/layout review.

Must-have: Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and one automation language (Python preferred); familiarity with RTOS concepts, HAL/bare-metal drivers, and evaluation board bring-up.

Must-have: Practical software development practices: Git-based version control, code reviews, CI/CD workflows, unit/integration testing, and technical documentation.

Must-have: Working knowledge of microcontrollers/SoCs, ADCs/DACs, and serial interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet).

Must-have: Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills; clear technical writing and communication; ability to manage priorities and schedules.

Nice-to-have: Experience with Xilinx Vivado, UltraScale FPGA architecture, and ASIC emulation methodologies or platforms.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
