Design Engineer, Verification

Role Summary

Work on hardware design verification for RISC-V processors/cores, developing testbenches, tests, models, and verification flows. The role supports design verification, performance analysis, and methodology development within a semiconductor design organization.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's degree with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 1–3 years.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on verification activities for processor/IP designs.

  • Review design and RISC-V standard specifications.
  • Develop testbenches, create test plans and test cases.
  • Debug test cases and drive coverage closure.
  • Modeling and performance analysis of processor blocks.
  • Develop verification flows, methodologies, and automation.
  • Document processes and methodologies clearly.
  • Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security procedures.

Requirements

Key technical skills and competencies required.

Must-have:

  • Proficient with Hardware Description Languages such as Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Knowledge of IP/SOC development and verification processes.
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Programming skills: Assembly and C; scripting in Python or Perl.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English; ability to document processes.
  • Curiosity and ability to learn new tools and languages.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience (projects, internships, competitions).
  • Project management and the ability to navigate ambiguous problems.

Education Requirements

Graduates in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or a related field where computer architecture and VLSI design are primary parts of the curriculum. Minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Typical experience expectations: Bachelor's with 3–5 years relevant experience or Master's with 1–3 years.
