Job Title
Design Engineer - Timing Methodology
Role Summary
Join the Timing Sign-Off group to develop and deliver advanced timing sign-off methodologies and modeling for SoC and 3D/2.5D IC designs. The role owns methodology development, drives complex studies, and implements practical sign-off solutions across projects.
Collaborate with EDA and chip-design teams across the company in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment and deliver production-ready methodology and flow improvements.
Experience Level
Senior β the posting specifies significant industry experience (see Education Requirements for years guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and deploy timing sign-off methodologies for advanced technology nodes.
- Design and implement SoC, 3D/2.5D IC and multi-die signoff solutions; own methodology from concept through deployment.
- Lead and contribute to EDA flow development and integration for tools such as Synopsys PrimeTime, Cadence Tempus, and Innovus.
- Perform complex studies, statistical analysis and modeling to improve timing margins, yield, and testability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with chip teams and EDA partners; prioritize work, communicate progress, and deliver on schedule.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Proven hands-on experience in timing signoff methodology development and ownership.
- Experience with SoC and 3D/2.5D IC timing signoff and tapeout experience on high-volume, high-yield complex SoCs at advanced nodes.
- Strong experience with STA tools (e.g., PrimeTime, Tempus) and EDA flow automation.
- Proficiency scripting and automation (TCL, Python, Perl, Unix shell) and familiarity with revision control, issue/defect tracking, CI/CD tools.
- Strong statistical data analysis, modeling skills, and understanding of silicon technologies, testability and yield.
- Excellent communication, organization, multitasking, and problem-solving skills; able to work independently and under pressure.
Education Requirements
Minimums specified by the employer: BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 12+ years of industry experience, or MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 10+ years of industry experience.
