Design Engineer — RTL & SoC Integration
Lattice SemiconductorJob Title
Design Engineer — RTL & SoC Integration
Role Summary
Senior technical lead responsible for RTL design and SoC integration of processor subsystems. End-to-end ownership from microarchitecture through tapeout, collaborating with architecture, DV, physical design and firmware teams within a small design group in Pune, India.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 12+ years of IC design experience with at least 3 years leading a subsystem or complex block.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Own RTL design and microarchitecture of the processor subsystem (embedded MCU cores, bus fabric, DMA infrastructure).
- Work with architecture team to finalize design definitions and specifications.
- Drive RTL implementation, lint checks and CDC/RDC/SDC closure.
- Insert and verify DFT and support synthesis flows for the subsystem.
- Partner with DV and physical design leads to achieve chip-level timing, power, and area targets.
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to ensure system integration.
- Mentor and teach best practices to junior designers; act as a technical lead for the team.
- Support advanced-node ASIC tapeout activities and cross-site coordination.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 12+ years of IC design experience and 3+ years leading a subsystem or complex block.
- Strong expertise in embedded processor subsystem design (ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, or equivalent).
- Proficient in SystemVerilog RTL coding and system-level modelling.
- Experience with power intent (UPF/CPF) and DFT-aware design and synthesis flows.
- Expertise in SoC integration, micro-architecture definition, and selecting/working with 3rd-party IP.
- Hands-on experience with CDC/RDC/SDC closure, lint, and advanced-node ASIC tapeouts.
- Proven ability to work across multiple teams and time zones.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience specifically with processor bus fabrics, DMA infrastructure, and embedded MCU subsystems implementation.
- Prior role mentoring or training design teams on coding style and verification practices.
Education Requirements
