Design Engineer II
Role Summary
Analog IC Designer responsible for designing and delivering analog/mixed-signal circuit blocks from specification through verification. Reports to the Design Engineering Director and works within a mixed-signal IC product design team.
Work focuses on circuit design, simulation, verification and collaboration with layout, physical verification and test teams to meet customer specifications.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Design Engineer II). Typical experience range: 3–7 years.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include design, verification and hand-off of analog/mixed-signal circuit blocks.
- Design analog circuit blocks such as amplifiers, biasing/bandgap, voltage regulators, ADCs/DACs, drivers, receivers and clocking blocks.
- Develop specifications, perform circuit design and run simulations to validate performance against requirements.
- Work with layout and physical verification teams to ensure manufacturable designs.
- Support lab characterization and debugging to validate silicon and close verification loops.
- Document designs, test plans and verification results; ensure conformance to customer specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate blocks into larger systems.
Requirements
Core requirements and preferred skills.
- Practical experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design, including one or more of the listed block types.
- Proficiency with circuit simulation tools and familiarity with layout and physical verification workflows.
- Strong problem-solving ability and demonstrated analog aptitude.
- Effective verbal and written communication and ability to work cooperatively in a team.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Cadence tool flows.
- Laboratory test and silicon characterization experience.
- Advanced mixed-signal design methodology experience.
Education Requirements
BEng or MEng qualification or equivalent practical qualification/experience. MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
