Job Title
Design Engineer II
Role Summary
Join the Silicon team as a Design Verification Engineer responsible for verifying IP blocks, subsystems and full chips for SoC/FPGA/ASIC projects. The role focuses on developing verification plans, building UVM/SystemVerilog testbenches, running simulations, and collaborating with design, IP and software teams to close verification milestones.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 5β8 years of relevant digital design and verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for this role include planning and executing verification activities and delivering quality silicon on schedule.
- Develop verification plans, define metrics and track progress against milestones.
- Verify blocks, subsystems and full-chip behavior using assertion-based, directed and randomized tests.
- Implement SystemVerilog/UVM and C-based testbenches; create BFMs, UVCs and verification tools.
- Define and maintain regression environments and verification flows.
- Perform functional, RTL, assertion and gate-level coverage analysis and simulations.
- Collaborate with design, IP and software engineers to debug issues and close coverage gaps.
- Develop and promote verification best practices and methodologies for SoC projects.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience needed to perform the role.
- 5β8 years of digital design verification experience on ASIC/FPGA/SoC projects.
- Strong experience with HDL/HVL and verification methodologies (SystemVerilog, UVM).
- Experience with simulation and verification tools such as Cadence IES/Xcelium, Synopsys VCS or Mentor Questa.
- Proven debugging and analysis skills for complex digital designs.
- Hands-on scripting skills (Python, Perl or shell); experience with TCL and build tools (Make).
- Experience developing verification components (UVCs, BFMs) and verification automation.
- Strong communication, documentation and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Nice-to-have: formal verification experience and additional verification tool exposure.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
