Job Title

Design Engineer - Flow Development

Role Summary

Join Broadcom's Timing Sign-Off group in Central Engineering to develop, enhance, and support timing sign-off flows used by chip teams. The role focuses on flow development, automation, statistical analysis, and tooling to achieve robust timing closure with optimized yield and margins.

Experience Level

Senior-level. See Education Requirements for the typical years-of-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining EDA flows, automations, and statistical analysis tools; supporting chip teams; and delivering practical solutions on schedule.

  • Design, implement, and deploy tooling and flow components using Python, Perl, TCL, and Unix shell.
  • Develop and maintain EDA flows for timing sign-off (Primetime, Tempus) and implementation (Innovus), and IR analysis (Redhawk).
  • Create automations for statistical data analysis, data science workflows, and SSTA processes.
  • Analyze timing and reliability data, build statistical models, and produce actionable results for design teams.
  • Support, debug, and improve existing flows; integrate with revision control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate across teams, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities in an agile, project-driven environment.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, tools, and professional behaviors.

  • Hands-on experience with SSTA tools such as Synopsys PrimeTime and Cadence Tempus.
  • Hands-on experience with Place & Route tools (Cadence Innovus).
  • Hands-on experience with IR analysis tools (e.g., Ansys RedHawk).
  • Proficient scripting skills: Python, TCL, Perl, and Unix shell for flow automation.
  • Experience performing statistical data analysis and modeling for timing and yield analysis.
  • Familiarity with revision control, issue tracking, and CI/CD tooling and practices.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; attention to detail.
  • Clear verbal and written communication; able to work with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to multitask, handle ambiguity, work independently, and remain calm under pressure.

Education Requirements
