Design Engineer - Flow Development
Role Summary
Join Broadcom's Timing Sign-Off group in Central Engineering to develop and maintain advanced timing sign-off flows used by Broadcom chip teams. The role focuses on flow development, automation, data analysis, and statistical modeling to improve yield and timing margins.
Experience Level
Senior β experience expectations are provided under Education Requirements. This role requires substantial hands-on industry experience working with digital design flows and EDA tools.
Responsibilities
Deliver enhancements and automation for timing sign-off flows and support their production use.
- Design, implement, and deploy tooling and flow components using Python, Perl, TCL, and Unix shell.
- Develop and maintain EDA flows involving tools such as Primetime, Tempus, Innovus, and RedHawk.
- Create automations for statistical data analysis, SSTA, and related modeling tasks.
- Analyze results, troubleshoot flow failures, and produce actionable fixes and improvements.
- Collaborate with chip teams and cross-functional experts in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment.
- Use revision control, issue tracking, and CI/CD practices to deliver and maintain flow components.
Requirements

- Hands-on experience with industry-standard SSTA tools (Primetime, Tempus).
- Hands-on experience with place-and-route tools (Innovus) and IR analysis (RedHawk).
- Proficiency scripting and automating flows using TCL, Python, Perl, and Unix shell.
- Experience with statistical data analysis and modeling techniques applied to timing and yield.
- Familiarity with revision control, defect tracking, and CI/CD pipelines for EDA flows.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Calm under pressure and able to ramp quickly on new problems.
Education Requirements
Minimum: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 8+ years of industry experience; or M.S./Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 6+ years of industry experience. Equivalent practical experience is acceptable where stated.
