Design Enablement Engineer Intern (Jan-Jun 2027)

Role Summary

Intern supporting characterization, validation and analysis of silicon photonic devices in an R&D/engineering lab. The role involves hands-on optical and electrical testing, data analysis, and contributing to automated test solutions and test workflows.

This position is based at the Singapore Science Park site and reports to engineering staff in the design enablement/test team. The internship focuses on practical semiconductor test experience and learning under mentorship.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Internship). Intended for students currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree; no prior full-time experience required. Internship duration: 16–24 weeks beginning January 2027.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include lab testing, data handling, and supporting engineers on test and validation activities.

  • Perform optical and electrical testing of silicon photonic devices at chip and wafer levels following established procedures.
  • Execute test plans and ensure accurate collection and recording of measurement data.
  • Analyze test data and produce summaries, charts, and reports for engineers and project teams.
  • Assist in troubleshooting test-related issues and investigating measurement anomalies.
  • Help maintain laboratory test setups, equipment, and testing environments for reliable operation.
  • Participate in development and enhancement of automated test solutions, data collection tools, and test workflows.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, results, observations, and lessons learned.
  • Support additional engineering projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Must-have criteria for applicants and practical requirements for the internship.

  • Must-have: Currently enrolled and in good academic standing; able to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Must-have: Available for a 16–24 week, credit-bearing internship commencing January 2027.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior related internship or co-op experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Demonstrated leadership in projects or competitions and project management skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Interest in optoelectronics, semiconductor technologies, and leveraging AI/tools to improve workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Self-motivated, strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related technical field through an accredited program; must be enrolled during the internship period.
