Job Title

Design Automation & DevOps Software Engineer

Role Summary

Work on design automation and DevOps tooling that supports Intel CPU core development. The role focuses on building and maintaining automation, a scalable internal cloud for high-performance compute, and integrating AI-assisted development tools into engineering workflows.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical requirement: at least 3 years of relevant experience (see Education Requirements for degree guidance).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing, deploying, and maintaining software and infrastructure that support CPU design workflows.

  • Develop and deploy software solutions to enhance design tool capabilities and streamline debugging.
  • Contribute to and help expand an AI-based development environment; migrate, modernize, and standardize workflows.
  • Maintain and scale an internal cloud and high-performance compute resources that support design and AI-augmented workflows.
  • Integrate automation and DevOps practices (CI/CD, scripting, monitoring) into design infrastructure.
  • Ensure correctness, security, and maintainability of delivered tooling and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate across design teams, CAD, compute, and software teams to support shared engineering goals.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and behavioral expectations.

  • Must-have: at least 6+ months of educational experience in at least two of the following areas: data structures & algorithms; programming and scripting (e.g., C/C++, Python, Perl/Tcl, shell); Linux/Unix systems; AI software development tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar).
  • Experience with software engineering and DevOps practices, including automation, CI/CD, and working with compute or cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix-based environments and system-level tooling.
  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and attention to quality, security, and maintainability.
  • Preferred: prior experience with design automation (EDA) tools or workflows.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (with 3+ years of experience), or a Master's degree in a related field. These qualifications may be met through a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, or research.
