Job Title

Design Architect — Analog IC Designer

Role Summary

The Design Architect Analog IC Designer is responsible for the architecture, design and verification of analog/mixed-signal IC circuit blocks from initial concept and specification through final verification against customer requirements. The role contributes to long-reach SerDes design and high-speed I/O implementations.

Experience Level

Senior — requires significant senior-level experience. The posting requests a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in CMOS SerDes or high-speed I/O IC development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define architecture and specifications for analog/mixed-signal circuit blocks and SerDes subsystems.
  • Design and implement circuit blocks (driver, receiver, serializer/deserializer, PI, PLL, ADC/DAC, bias/bandgap, regulators, clock distribution).
  • Perform circuit simulation, verification and post-layout validation to ensure conformance with customer electrical requirements.
  • Collaborate with layout, verification, test, and systems teams to achieve performance, jitter and equalization targets.
  • Support lab characterization and debug of prototypes and silicon bring-up.
  • Document design decisions and present results to internal teams and customers as needed.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred skills:

  • Must-have: Minimum 10 years of experience in CMOS SerDes or high-speed I/O IC development.
  • Must-have: Thorough understanding of jitter mechanisms and signal equalization techniques.
  • Must-have: Proven design experience across SerDes circuit blocks such as driver, receiver, serializer, deserializer, phase interpolator, low-jitter PLL, high-speed clock distribution, ADC/DAC, bias/bandgap, and voltage regulators.
  • Must-have: Proficiency using CAD tools for circuit simulation and post-layout verification; experience with Cadence tools and lab test procedures.
  • Must-have: Design experience at or above 16 Gbps and with process technologies at or below 16 nm.
  • Nice-to-have: Hands-on layout entry skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Working knowledge of common SerDes standards and their electrical requirements.
  • General: Strong problem-solving, clear communication, and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
