Job Title
DEMQRA Quality and Reliability Engineer
Role Summary
Work on the DRAM/Emerging Memory Quality and Reliability Assurance (DEMQRA) team to perform electrical characterization and electrical failure analysis (EFA) of DRAM products. Focus on distinguishing package-related vs device-related failures, characterizing failure mechanisms, and supporting downstream analysis and corrective actions.
Operate and maintain test and diagnostic tools, communicate findings with engineering teams, support lab users, and improve EFA processes to reduce test time and increase throughput and accuracy.
Experience Level
Entry-level β approximately 1 year of relevant experience preferred (failure analysis, troubleshooting, debugging).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include electrical failure analysis, equipment support, and data management to support quality and reliability engineering.
- Perform electrical characterization and failure analysis of DRAM devices and packages using test equipment (uMate/Micromate, probers, curve tracers, oscilloscopes).
- Interpret test results, adjust test conditions to isolate sensitivities, and categorize electrical failures.
- Perform visual inspections and use schematics/layouts/process information to identify abnormalities and root causes.
- Document failed conditions, log failures, maintain FA databases, and analyze/summary FA data.
- Coordinate and escalate analyses to other groups (C-SAM, PYE, Product Engineering, Package Reliability, AQL) and recommend next-level analyses.
- Troubleshoot, configure, upgrade, and coordinate repair of test hardware and software; develop and deploy FA software as needed.
- Provide technical support and training for lab users; conduct on-the-job training and teach equipment operation.
- Execute engineering requests and experiments, summarize results, and provide feedback for quality/reliability reviews (MRB, PORRB, datasheet/qual modifications).
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for the role; familiarity items are listed as preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills; attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with laboratory/test equipment and analytical tools (Micromate/uMate, curve tracer, oscilloscope); basic understanding of electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of DRAM fabrication, test programs, and device functionality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a lab/engineering environment.
- Efficient computer skills and ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Preferred: familiarity with Unix, DFII/Cadence, and uMate.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics or a related field of study is required (Degree in Electronics or related discipline listed). No certifications or explicit "equivalent experience" language was specified.
