Debug Supervisor
Role Summary
Lead a debugging team in Milpitas to implement and maintain cost-effective test and troubleshooting methods for electronic hardware and embedded software. Report to the Test Engineering Manager and coordinate with engineering, quality, and production to resolve failures and improve test yield.
Experience Level
Senior — supervisory role. Typical experience: 4–7+ years in electrical engineering or related technologies, including 3+ years in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include supervising technicians, executing test activities, and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions:
- Supervise and mentor up to 15 debugging technicians; provide technical guidance and performance oversight.
- Plan, execute, and oversee electronic hardware and software testing, test conditions, and operational procedures.
- Analyze test results and prepare failure analyses and technical reports for engineering and management.
- Lead root cause investigations of yield and product failures; define and monitor corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, purchasing, SQA, and production to troubleshoot system malfunctions.
- Coach technicians and operators on test hardware, software, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot digital circuits (including FPGA and BGA) and allocate defect causes across process, material, or design.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 4–7+ years of experience in electrical engineering or related electrical technologies; at least 3 years in manufacturing operations.
- Proven leadership and people-management skills; experience leading initiatives and mentoring staff.
- Strong problem-solving ability and effective written and verbal communication; able to interpret technical diagrams and instructions.
- Experience performing root cause analysis, driving corrective actions, and improving test yield.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment with ambiguously defined procedures; contribute to defining methods, standards, and policies.
- Hands-on debug experience with digital circuits, FPGA, and BGA technologies.
- Domestic relocation eligible; sponsorship not available.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
