Debug Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for debugging and test support for electronic products and systems at the Prai, Penang site. Collaborate with engineering, test technicians and production teams to identify root causes of failures, resolve yield issues, and deliver technical reports.

The role focuses on test execution, failure analysis, FPGA/BGA configuration, and implementing corrective actions to improve product performance and test yields.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 3–5 years of relevant test, debug, or production engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include:

• Plan and execute electronic and software tests, including test sequencing and phases of operation.
• Use test hardware and software to conduct examinations, collect and interpret test data.
• Investigate failures, perform root-cause analysis, and assign defect causes (process, material, design).
• Configure and evaluate digital circuits using FPGA and work with BGA assemblies.
• Prepare technical summaries and Failure Analysis reports for engineering and management.
• Coordinate corrective actions and monitor improvements to resolve test yield problems.
• Provide floor support and guidance to test technicians and operators on test hardware/software and troubleshooting techniques.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and experience:

• 3–5 years progressive experience in test, debug, or related production engineering functions.
• Experience with electronic test systems, test software, data interpretation, and debugging coding issues.
• Hands-on failure analysis skills and ability to trace failures to point of origin or detection.
• Experience evaluating digital circuits and configuring FPGAs; familiarity with BGA is required.
• Strong problem-solving, written reporting, and ability to interface with cross-functional engineering teams.
