DDR Validation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
DDR Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Member of Qualcomm's System Validation & Emulation (SVE) team responsible for end-to-end silicon validation of memory subsystems. Work spans pre-silicon through post-silicon to validate LPDDR5X and LPDDR6 memory on AI accelerator and flagship mobile platforms.
Experience Level
Mid-level - typically 5+ years of relevant experience in DDR/memory subsystem validation or silicon bring-up.
Responsibilities
Lead memory validation activities across emulation, FPGA, and silicon platforms and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve memory-related issues.
- Define and execute DDR validation strategy across emulation, FPGA, and silicon.
- Drive LPDDR5X/LPDDR6 bring-up, training validation, frequency scaling, low-power state validation, and feature enablement.
- Develop and execute validation plans for functionality, performance, reliability, power, and corner cases.
- Lead debug of DDR controller, PHY, firmware, SI/PI, timing, and system-level issues.
- Validate interactions between DDR and CPU, GPU, NPU, cache hierarchy, NoC, and system software.
- Characterize bandwidth, latency, QoS, memory pressure, and AI workload behavior.
- Develop scalable automation, regression infrastructure, and debug analytics frameworks.
- Partner with Architecture, Design, Firmware, SI/PI, Package, and DRAM vendors for root-cause and resolution.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 5+ years of experience in DDR/memory subsystem validation or silicon bring-up.
- Strong understanding of LPDDR4/5/5X/6 architectures.
- Knowledge of DDR controllers and PHYs, memory training and calibration algorithms.
- Familiarity with cache, coherency, and NoC architectures.
- Experience with power management and low-power memory features.
- Strong post-silicon debug experience, including system-level debug across HW/SW boundaries.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and low-level software development.
Education Requirements
Degrees accepted: Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Minimum qualification alternatives stated in the posting: Bachelor’s + 4+ years relevant ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; Master’s + 3+ years; PhD + 2+ years. Equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree is recognized by the stated combinations.
