Job Title

DCS Senior Application Engineer (Hardware)

Role Summary

Senior hardware application engineer supporting Field Application Engineers, sales, and customers through product introduction, design, bring-up, testing, and post-production for data center hardware solutions.

Work with cross-functional teams and Tier 1 OEM/ODM customers to integrate and deploy products for data center, machine learning/AI, and storage environments.

Experience Level

Senior level - minimum 7.5 years of experience in hardware/system design, debug, and support.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include customer technical support, system bring-up, and driving product requirements to production.

• Support, manage, and maintain hardware for processor-based storage ICs and reference designs.
• Collaborate with FAEs, sales, and customer engineering to define requirements and support design wins.
• Provide hands-on initial system bring-up, board-level debug, and transition to production.
• Analyze customer architectures and deliver timely post-production technical support.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional root-cause analysis for customer issues.
• Develop and review customer documentation: user guides, release notes, training, reference designs, and application notes.
• Drive customer requirements through project management and coordinate deliverables.
• Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 0–25%) to support customer sites and debug systems involving hardware, software, and firmware.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role, plus additional desirable skills.

Must-have:

• Minimum 7.5 years experience in hardware/system design, debug, and customer support.
• Strong system, hardware, and firmware development and debugging skills.
• Experience with high-speed signal integrity, board design, and board-level bring-up.
• Proficiency with bench equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers and logic analyzers.
• Experience with hardware schematics design and layout.
• Strong technical leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work across cross-functional teams and multiple geographic locations; functional spoken/written English.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with PCIe, SAS/SATA, and mass storage hardware/firmware.
• Experience with RISC-based embedded processors (e.g., MIPS, ARM).
• Project management experience and experience supporting Tier 1 OEMs/ODMs through product ramps and production.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
