Job Title

DC Characterization ATE Test Engineer (Engineer to Senior)

Role Summary

Work on characterization and manufacturing test solutions for IO subsystems in advanced SoC products. The role focuses on developing test plans, ATE programs, and debugging first silicon to qualify designs fabricated at external foundries.

The position collaborates with IC design, system engineering, test and manufacturing teams to analyze parametric performance, drive failure analysis, and improve high-volume manufacturing yields and test time.

Experience Level

Senior (title indicates up to Senior). Experience guidance in the posting varies: a range from new graduate up to ~5 years is mentioned; separate minimums list Bachelor's +2 years or Master's +1 year; PhD also acceptable.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include characterization, test development, and production support for IO on SoCs.

  • Develop DC characterization and test plans for IO across multiple interfaces.
  • Identify DFT and test-hardware requirements for production test.
  • Develop ATE tests, routines and production programs to implement test plans.
  • Drive first-silicon bring-up and debug for chips fabricated at external foundries.
  • Perform parametric data analysis and failure analysis to closure.
  • Analyze high-volume manufacturing yields and implement test-time reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with design, system, reliability, yield and manufacturing teams globally.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience, followed by useful preferences.

  • Hands-on hardware engineering or test experience in semiconductor device/SoC environments.
  • Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting (examples listed: C/C++, Python, Perl, Java, Visual Basic).
  • Ability to analyze technical data and apply statistical techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and documentation skills; ability to work independently.
  • Nice-to-have: ATE experience (Advantest 93K preferred) and familiarity with IO pad design and DC parameter testing (including DDRIO and HSIO).

Education Requirements

Posting references: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or related field). It also lists options for Master's degree or PhD with reduced experience requirements (Bachelor's +2+ years; Master's +1+ year; PhD acceptable). No specific certifications were required.
