Job Title
Data Scientist / Statistician
Role Summary
Join Intel Foundry's Statistics and Data Science team to apply applied statistics, machine learning, and data engineering to semiconductor process development, process control, and change-control decision making. The role partners with factory automation and functional analytics teams to develop predictive models, statistical methodologies, and software that translate data into operational intelligence.
This position supports transfer of systems across a worldwide factory network and is eligible for Intel's hybrid work model.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires 4+ years of professional experience in statistics or data science.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include applying statistical methods and data science to improve semiconductor process capability, stability, and matching, and to enable data-driven change-control decisions.
- Advise the organization on appropriate data and analyses for change-control and process decisions.
- Drive adoption and improvement of process control systems to improve capability, matching, and stability.
- Develop predictive models, ML solutions, and data-mining workflows for structured and unstructured data.
- Design and implement software, algorithms, and applications for large-scale experimentation and data-driven apps.
- Perform causal inference, pattern discovery, and relationship analysis to support business decisions.
- Interface and collaborate with process, integration, and factory automation analytics teams to solve cross-functional problems.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and behaviors for initial consideration are listed below. Preferred items are noted separately.
-
Must-have: 4+ years working in statistics or data science; experience applying AI/ML/analytics algorithms and developing statistical methodologies.
-
Must-have: 2+ years working on quality systems such as process control systems and change-control systems.
-
Must-have: Experience coding statistical analysis, data cleaning, and manipulation using languages such as Python, JSL, and SQL; familiarity with relational databases.
-
Must-have: Experience with data analytics and machine learning tools (Python, R, JMP, etc.) and an understanding of data structures.
-
Must-have: Strong written and oral communication, ability to train others, analytical problem-solving, troubleshooting, teamwork, and high tolerance for ambiguity.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with fault-detection systems and prior technical leadership responsibilities.
-
Nice-to-have: Working knowledge of technologies such as Spark, NiFi, Hadoop, HBase, S3 object storage, Kubernetes, REST APIs, CI/CD, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior interaction with factory automation systems and experience building dashboards (e.g., PowerBI).
Education Requirements
Minimum: Master's or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, or Industrial Engineering. The posting also permits equivalent combinations of industry experience, internships, and schoolwork/classroom research to meet requirements.
