Job Title

Data Scientist

Role Summary

The Data Scientist will support semiconductor manufacturing teams by extracting, cleansing, and analyzing production and sensor data to identify yield detractors and drive continuous improvement. The role partners with process, equipment and integration engineers to apply statistical methods, machine learning, and experiment analysis to reduce defects and improve process margins.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career - approximately 0.5+ years of hands-on data science, analytics, or scripting experience is expected.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on data-driven yield improvement, analytics automation, and communicating results to engineering stakeholders.

  • Analyze inline, parametric, and probe data to identify top yield detractors and propose corrective actions.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines: extract, clean, and transform data from SQL databases, sensors, and tool logs.
  • Develop statistical models and machine learning solutions to support defect reduction and process optimization.
  • Support Design of Experiments (DOE) and analyze results to improve process capability and margins.
  • Create automated reports and dashboards (e.g., Dash, Plotly, Angular) to present complex engineering data clearly.
  • Integrate AI-assisted tools where appropriate, using sound judgment and complying with legal and organizational standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled and analytics-driven enhancements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, hands-on experience, and core professional behaviors.

  • Minimum ~6 months practical experience in data science, analytics, or scripting applications.
  • Strong Python programming skills for data analysis and model development.
  • Working experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation (approximately 6+ months).
  • Familiarity with statistical methodologies and tools (SPC, DOE, FDC/EDA) and data-driven problem solving.
  • Experience creating data visualizations and dashboards (examples: Dash, Plotly, Angular) to communicate results.
  • Willingness to learn semiconductor manufacturing principles and collaborate with equipment and integration engineers.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator; able to translate data insights for engineering teams.
  • Analytical mindset, ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior internship or work experience in semiconductor manufacturing or electronics production.
  • Basic understanding of fabrication processes, equipment, device physics (e.g., CMOS), or memory architectures (DRAM/NAND).
  • Experience applying advanced analytics specifically for manufacturing and yield applications.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, AI, or a related engineering field.
