CVD/PVD Process Engineer (High Volume Manufacturing)
Role Summary
Responsible for launching, developing, and optimizing CVD and PVD processes in a high-volume semiconductor fab. Work within a cross-functional team of process and equipment engineers to improve product quality, yield, cost, and productivity.
Perform root-cause analysis, risk management, and process qualification activities; collaborate with suppliers and other production sites to standardize and transfer technology.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role expects prior hands-on experience in volume manufacturing process development, yield improvement, or production troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include process control, problem solving, and cross-functional coordination.
- Develop, qualify, and optimize CVD/PVD process conditions and manufacturing techniques.
- Drive yield improvement, cost reduction, and productivity projects.
- Set and optimize process parameters for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
- Evaluate and qualify new equipment and materials; plan and support introductions.
- Conduct failure analysis, troubleshooting, and corrective/improvement actions using methods such as FMEA, 8D, and SPC.
- Manage process change evaluations and device/process baseline qualifications.
- Collaborate with overseas production sites to share technical information and standardize processes.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for fabrication issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical and communication skills; semiconductor background is preferred.
- Experience in process development, process improvement, yield enhancement, or productivity improvement in a manufacturing environment.
- Practical skills in failure analysis, troubleshooting, and implementing process improvements.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
- Fluent Japanese (equivalent to JLPT N1) for day-to-day communication.
- Basic English communication skills (email and meetings).
- Familiarity with quality and problem-solving tools such as FMEA, 8D, and SPC.
- Nice to have: prior semiconductor process engineering experience specifically with CVD/PVD tools and wafer processing.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in a science or engineering field (理系学士以上). Typical fields include Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
