CV/ML/DL Algorithm Developer
Role Summary
Develop and validate computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning algorithms for defect detection, classification, metrology, and image analysis on semiconductor process-control inspection tools. The role spans research, prototyping, and productionization in collaboration with software, compute infrastructure, systems and applications teams.
Based in Santa Clara; travel ~10%. Work focuses on turning algorithm prototypes into optimized, production-quality implementations that meet tool specifications.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have approximately 3–7 years of relevant experience; the team also considers new PhD graduates or candidates with a Master’s and 4+ years of experience.
Responsibilities
Design, prototype, validate, and deliver CV/ML/DL algorithm modules for semiconductor inspection and process control.
- Evaluate, develop, and benchmark computer vision and ML/DL algorithms for defect detection, classification, metrology, and image analysis.
- Perform feasibility studies, literature surveys, and data-driven prototyping to select and validate approaches.
- Write and maintain optimized, production-quality code and work with software teams to integrate algorithms into tools.
- Optimize algorithm performance for available compute resources (CPU/GPU) and assist with compute/infrastructure integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to productize algorithmic solutions that meet specifications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience to execute on algorithm design and productionization.
- Strong background in computer vision, image processing, and deep learning.
- Proficient in C/C++ and Python; able to produce production-quality code.
- Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Knowledge of GPU programming (CUDA or OpenCL) and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience validating and benchmarking algorithms on large datasets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Nice to have: semiconductor industry experience, familiarity with AI coding tools, and prior work integrating algorithms into commercial inspection systems.
Education Requirements
New PhD graduates are considered, or a Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience. Fields cited include Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical disciplines.
