Customer Support Engineer (Senior Software Customer Engineer 6 Embedded Systems)
Role Summary
Provide advanced Level-3 technical support for embedded software across NXP's S32 and radar product portfolio, focusing on real-time drivers and platform software. The role resolves complex customer issues, drives defect resolution with development teams, and improves support processes and tooling.
This position works closely with customers and internal R&D teams to ensure timely, measurable support outcomes and higher product quality.

Responsibilities
Day-to-day and leadership responsibilities include:
- Provide Level-3 support and resolve complex software issues across the software stack (drivers, middleware, integration layers).
- Investigate, reproduce, and debug at the code level in C/C++; perform root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with product development teams to drive defect fixes and product improvements.
- Develop and validate fixes using unit and integration testing methodologies.
- Support customers on radar platforms (S32R41/43/45/47, SAF85xx/86xx families).
- Track and manage issues using Jira and Bitbucket; ensure SLA-aligned resolution and reporting.
- Contribute to and maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting guides.
- Lead process definition and continuous improvement for support workflows; define and track compliance metrics (e.g., SLA adherence).
- Mentor junior engineers and supervise an intern team, including onboarding, coaching, and performance feedback.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and professional requirements:
- Minimum 15 years' experience in embedded software development, debugging, or technical support.
- Strong programming and debugging skills in C/C++.
- Deep understanding of embedded systems and real-time software architecture.
- Experience defining and improving support processes and tracking compliance metrics.
- Familiarity with S32 ecosystem tools: S32 Design Studio (S32DS), S32 Configuration Tools, S32 Debugger.
- Experience with Lauterbach (Trace32) debugging tools.
- Experience using Jira and Bitbucket for issue tracking and code management.
- Strong communication skills for customer-facing, global collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with AUTOSAR stacks and AUTOSAR tooling (Electrobit TresOS listed in source).
- Background supporting automotive radar platforms and familiarity with ASPICE or similar quality frameworks.
- Prior experience in a Level-3 customer support environment.
Education Requirements
