Customer Support Engineer - NFC & Security
Role Summary
The Customer Support Engineer provides technical support to customers worldwide using NXP's NFC, RFID, and security products. You will be the primary technical contact for customer design‑in, troubleshooting, and application support, and will work with product, marketing, and engineering teams to improve products and documentation.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Minimum 3 years of relevant technical experience in embedded systems or customer technical support.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and drive timely resolution of customer issues while contributing to product documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Respond to customer technical inquiries via email, phone, and online tools.
- Troubleshoot and debug designs using NXP NFC/RFID and security devices.
- Review customer schematics and PCB layouts; advise on hardware and integration issues.
- Support application development and firmware/software integration tasks.
- Contribute to product documentation, FAQs, and application notes.
- Provide input to cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing) based on customer feedback.
- Deliver or support technical training and knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, languages, and interpersonal attributes.
- Minimum 3 years in a relevant technical role (embedded systems, firmware, or customer support).
- Embedded software/firmware development experience.
- Proficiency in C; Java is a plus.
- Experience with Linux and/or RTOS; embedded Linux is a plus.
- Familiarity with UART, SPI, I²C, SDIO, USB, and common network interfaces.
- Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers or microprocessors.
- Ability to read and review schematics and PCB layouts.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
- Collaborative, proactive, able to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
Preferred:
- Experience with NFC/RFID technologies or security products (secure elements, smart cards).
- Knowledge of antenna design and RF fundamentals (impedance matching, tuning, regulatory compliance).
- Familiarity with secure communication protocols (ISO 14443, ISO 15693, EMVCo, ISO 7816).
- Embedded Linux and/or Android application development experience.
- Knowledge of software design, coding, and testing best practices.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Automation, Electronic Information Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. The posting accepts equivalent practical experience in place of a degree.
