Customer Quality Engineer
Role Summary
Support US customers as the frontline quality engineering contact for pre-sales and post-sales needs. Resolve customer quality requests and issues by collaborating with QA, FA, Reliability, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales teams.
Contribute to failure analysis, corrective actions, NPI support, customer audits, and continuous improvement of quality management systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level; 2β5 years of semiconductor IC engineering or quality experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Act as front-line interface to customers for QA inquiries, issues, and requests (pre-sale and post-sale).
- Analyze, resolve or escalate customer quality issues with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and review failure analysis (FA) deliverables, customer-facing presentations, and 8D reports.
- Investigate quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Perform root cause analysis and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Support product introductions (NPI) and related process improvements.
- Serve as customer contact for audits in the US and Asia; coordinate with subcontractors as needed.
- Help maintain and improve quality management systems (ISO, VDA 6.3, IATF-16949).
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 2β5 years in semiconductor IC engineering and quality functions; customer-facing experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with quality tools, statistics, and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Experience in at least two of: Customer Quality Engineering; Quality Management Systems; Automotive Quality; Reliability Engineering; Failure Analysis; Product Engineering; Production Quality Control.
- Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, IC testing, and ATE correlation to device quality.
- Working knowledge of silicon/package technology, reliability and FA processes, testing tools, and reporting.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for customer interactions.
Nice-to-have: direct automotive quality experience, prior audit participation, and familiarity with ISO/IATF standards.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSc EE) or a closely related engineering degree required.
