Customer Quality Engineer
Role Summary
Act as the primary quality contact for key customers in Taiwan, handling customer complaints, leading failure analysis and root-cause investigations, and coordinating cross-functional teams to resolve semiconductor product reliability issues.
Drive data-driven quality improvements, support audits and customer reviews, and provide timely technical communication to customers and internal stakeholders.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically 5+ years of experience in semiconductor quality, failure analysis, or process roles.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include customer-facing quality management, failure analysis, coordination, data reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as primary quality interface for key customers in Taiwan; manage customer expectations and communications.
- Lead customer complaint handling, RMA justification, and technical responses.
- Lead end-to-end failure analysis (FA) with internal labs and customers; perform structured root-cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
- Coordinate cross-functional issue resolution with Design, Product Engineering, Test, Manufacturing, and Supplier Quality across global sites.
- Analyze field returns and production data; produce clear, data-driven reports and summaries for stakeholders and customers.
- Ensure compliance with company quality systems and customer requirements; support audits and customer visits.
- Drive systemic corrective actions and continuous improvement to prevent recurrence of major issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, relevant experience, and professional behaviors; preferred items listed separately.
- Typically 5+ years in semiconductor quality, failure analysis, or process engineering.
- Proven experience in failure analysis and structured root-cause methodologies.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, assembly, and test processes.
- Experience handling customer quality issues, field returns, and technical complaint responses.
- Data-analysis skills (Excel required; Python or equivalent is a plus).
- Strong written and verbal communication in English; ability to present technical findings to customers and management.
- High ownership, problem-solving mindset, and ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
- Willingness to travel (~10%).
Nice-to-have: experience with analog or automotive products, familiarity with JEDEC/ZVEI/AEC-Q standards, and prior work with global teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Materials, or a related technical field.
