Customer Engagement Applications Engineer (CAPRES) – USA

Role Summary

The Applications Engagement Engineer on the CAPRES team supports application development, customer engagements, and adoption of advanced electrical and magnetic metrology solutions, primarily for customers in the United States.

Work closely with regional engagement leads, customers, and internal teams to ensure CAPRES solutions deliver value in R&D and high-volume manufacturing.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Suitable for engineers with prior semiconductor process or application experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing applications, executing characterization, supporting on-site evaluations, and translating customer feedback into improvements.

  • Develop and implement applications for CAPRES metrology systems (sheet resistance, CIPT, MOKE, FMR).
  • Define and execute characterization plans; analyze electrical and magnetic measurement data to support evaluations and deployment.
  • Create application methodologies, test strategies and best known methods (BKMs); document evaluation reports and application notes.
  • Support customer engagements in the United States, including on-site tool evaluations, recipe setup, optimization, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Implement and qualify new use cases at customer sites to enable adoption in R&D and manufacturing.
  • Capture customer requirements and application challenges; provide actionable recommendations to CAPRES headquarters for tool and software improvements.
  • Collaborate with regional teams and contribute to knowledge transfer and technical guidance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor process engineering and device characterization; experience in ion implantation, metallization, diffusion/CVD or etch is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with sheet resistance metrology and process characterization; manufacturing data analytics experience.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical and magnetic measurements and related data analysis.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, or similar.
  • Proven customer-facing experience, including on-site technical engagement and presentations.
  • Ability to independently analyze and solve complex technical problems and support process integration.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, product/marketing, and field teams.

Education Requirements

Doctorate (PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field (0+ years); or Master’s in those fields with ~3+ years relevant experience; or Bachelor’s in those fields with ~5+ years relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience considered as specified by level.
