Customer Debug Lead
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership for platform bring-up, debugging, and customer enablement for AMD server platforms. Work directly with MDC/OEM/ODM partners and internal AMD teams to diagnose issues, deliver fixes, and produce technical collateral such as application notes and reference materials.
Experience Level
Level - Senior. Typical experience: 5+ years (MTS) or 8+ years (SMTS) of silicon/server/client product development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on debug, customer-facing support, and cross-team coordination to resolve platform and system issues.
- Lead bring-up and debug of internal, reference, and customer production designs (PCIe, memory, CPU, power management, platform/RAS).
- Work onsite with customers to accelerate issue resolution and meet project schedules.
- Drive technical discussions across AMD and external partners toward convergence and resolution.
- Produce and maintain technical collateral: application notes, user guides, reference designs, and debugging/profiling tools.
- Use scopes, protocol analyzers, JTAG and other debug tools to root-cause platform/system failures.
- Provide design and debug recommendations at SoC and system levels and enable customers to reach production.
Requirements
Must-have vs. nice-to-have skills and experience.
- Must-have: Extensive hands-on experience in hardware/software platform design and system architecture; proven ability to debug SoC and system-level failures.
- Proven experience working directly with customers and enabling products to production.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to operate in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Experience leading technical discussions and driving multi-party resolution.
- Proficiency using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, JTAG and other low-level debug tools.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; able to work with minimal guidance.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with post-silicon validation methodologies, RAS feature development/validation, and server OS environments (Linux, Windows Server).
- Familiarity with programming/scripting (C/C++, Python, Shell) and firmware/driver development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
