Customer Applications Development Engineer
Role Summary
Support US semiconductor customers from KLA's Austin office by deploying, configuring, and validating MACH Analytics software and by driving process optimization in lithography and metrology. Work onsite with customers, internal engineering teams, and product groups to enable product adoption and resolve hardware and software issues.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0–2 years typical). Position accepts candidates with a Master’s and 0 years related experience or a Bachelor’s with ~2 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Advise and support customers on process optimization and structural improvements in lithography and metrology.
- Deploy, configure, and validate MACH Analytics software and new software modules onsite.
- Develop and implement product applications to deliver customer value.
- Support new product introductions: characterization, alpha/beta testing, and pilot tool support during factory startup.
- Define feature requirements, design and execute test plans, collect data, and perform analyses.
- Publish results, create Best Known Method documents, application notes, and technical materials.
- Transfer product and application knowledge to Field Application teams and internal stakeholders.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues; interface with systems and software engineering for fixes.
- Conduct product demonstrations and technical training to support sales and product adoption.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred qualifications:

Must-have: Experience in the semiconductor industry with a strong focus on lithography.

Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and a customer-focused mindset.

Must-have: Field or customer-facing experience supporting product deployment, characterization, testing, or troubleshooting.

Must-have: Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25% target).

Preferred / Nice-to-have: Hands-on experience with exposure tools.

Preferred / Nice-to-have: Python programming skills.
Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related natural science (qualifies with 0 years related experience), or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field plus approximately 2 years of related work experience. Fields: Engineering, Physics, or other relevant natural science disciplines.
