Job Title
Custom Circuit Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and optimize FPGA circuits and IP blocks including core fabric logic, interconnect routing, clocking, configuration, configurable memory blocks, and on-chip networks. Deliver micro-architected circuit designs, models, and documentation to integrate FPGA functionality into larger SoC and system environments.
Experience Level
Senior β requires more than 10 years of FPGA circuit design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include architecture, detailed circuit design, verification, and cross-team integration.
- Micro-architect and implement FPGA circuits and IP for core fabric, interconnects, clocking, configuration, and programmable memory.
- Create schematics, run SPICE/RV simulations, perform reliability verification, and participate in sign-off reviews.
- Optimize designs for power, performance, area, timing, and yield targets.
- Develop integration artifacts: circuit integration specifications, behavioral models, electrical rule checks, and timing/power models.
- Collaborate with microarchitecture, SoC/full-chip, RTL, verification, and physical design teams to enable integration into larger systems.
- Document designs and communicate technical tradeoffs and results to stakeholders.
- Provide oversight during physical implementation and participate in cross-discipline reviews.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- Extensive hands-on experience in logic design, memory design, and custom circuit design for FPGAs.
- Strong experience with SPICE and RV simulations and executing sign-off verification flows.
- Solid understanding of hardware VLSI design and advanced process technologies.
- Familiarity with RTL design and verification methodologies and working with IP fabrics and interconnects.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming: Python, Perl, CSH, and TCL.
- Strong communication and technical documentation skills.
- Comfort working in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and leading technical reviews.
-
Nice-to-have: AI-related skills and prior experience integrating FPGAs into larger SoC or system-level designs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or a related technical field. The posting specifies Bachelor's or Master's (Electronic Engineering or related) in combination with significant FPGA circuit design experience.
