Cryo CMOS Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior analog/mixed-signal design engineer responsible for developing high-performance analog integrated circuits and reusable IP for cryogenic CMOS and quantum-control applications. The role covers circuit architecture, transistor-level design, simulation, layout oversight, tapeout, and silicon characterization.

Work closely with device modeling, PDK, test, and cross-functional teams to validate designs and close the loop between simulation and silicon.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 5 years of relevant analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver analog/mixed-signal circuit designs from concept to silicon and support cross-functional integration and validation.

• Design amplifiers, bias/reference circuits, regulators, data converters, oscillators/PLLs, clocking circuits, drivers, and other analog blocks.
• Develop circuit architecture, perform transistor-level design and simulation, and supervise layout and physical verification through tapeout.
• Perform PVT, Monte Carlo/mismatch, noise, stability, linearity, timing, and post-layout parasitic analysis.
• Optimize circuits for wide operating temperature ranges including cryogenic conditions and manage power, process variation, and layout-dependent effects.
• Collaborate with device modeling and PDK teams to evaluate model accuracy and provide circuit-level feedback for PDK and model improvements.
• Define silicon test structures and characterization plans; analyze measured data and correlate hardware with pre-silicon simulation and compact models.
• Lead technical design reviews, document design methodologies and results, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and workplace requirements.

• Minimum 5 years of analog or mixed-signal IC design experience taking circuits through schematic, simulation, layout, DRC/LVS, parasitic extraction, tapeout, and silicon validation.
• Strong knowledge of CMOS analog fundamentals: device physics, noise, matching, feedback/stability, frequency response, and process variation analysis.
• Proficiency with industry-standard SPICE simulation, layout tools, physical verification, and post-layout extraction flows.
• Ability to analyze complex circuit and silicon performance issues and translate findings into design improvements.
• Experience optimizing circuits for low-temperature/cryogenic operation or other advanced analog applications preferred.
• Familiarity with silicon characterization and correlating measured results to simulation; scripting experience (Python, SKILL, Tcl) is a plus.
• Up to 10% travel and fluency in written and verbal English.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field. Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.
